Not bad - looks like a cross between MS, TW, and Xanthom's enhanced graphics... Not sure if it's any better legally though - if it were all based on TW graphics, it'd be all right since they're in the public domain...

He got permission to use Xanthom's tiles, apparently.

They should be legal. Copyright only protects the original art works, making your own that look similar is legal. I still should get a new character sometime.
