Future of WebCC

This topic has been discussed before, but now that there's a clear solution, I wanted to make certain that the information and links are easily available to anyone who might need to find them.

Adobe Flash is set to be phased out of all relevant internet browsers by January 2021. As WebCC is programmed in Flash, this shift will impact us. The solution is the release of downloadable applets to play and edit levels. These are separate from each other as many users simply play without editing. Make certain to download based on your operating system.

The website, iOS app, and forums aren't going anywhere. The layout in the downloadable applets is exactly the same as the website. I also want to note that this won't let you play or edit levels offline. The applet still needs to connect to the WebCC server to function.

Windows: Download WebCC | Download Editor

Mac: Download WebCC | Download Editor
Note: If you have Mac running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or newer, follow this guide to get WebCC working on it, as WebCC runs 32-bit.

Known Issues:
- Passwords are limited to 12-character passwords. If your password is longer, they will need to be changed using the Account section of your profile.
- There is currently no way to access levels by users not officially listed/linked at the bottom of the player UI. Use /play [user]

Thank you Craig (and PsuFan) for getting this set up for us.  Will we be able to access maps?

CraigV

Everything on the website will remain the same, with the exception of the "Play" page.

Okay then.  Next question - will the maps for new levels show anywhere?

Thank you for all the hard work to maintain the website and let us play after Flash.

Thanks for all, all these years. You guys are my second family. Happy, prosperous, and covied free 2021. God Bless. I love you all and carry you guys in the innermost part of my heart.

Acts,2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Hechos,2:38 Pedro les dijo: Arrepentíos, y bautícese cada uno de vosotros en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de los pecados; y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo.

That's probably the next thing that will be fixed, I'd assume. Hopefully there will be a way to enter a username and/or level URL to access levels by users not available in the scroll bar at the bottom. I'm not sure what PsuFan is planning for that, but I'd assume it will be added fairly soon.

Or, if you're asking if levels made in the downloaded editor will appear in the map database, the answer is yes; that is unchanged. The editor communicates directly with the WebCC server, backing everything up every time you click the Save button (as usual). On the server, that function isn't using Flash though a browser, just converting the level info to an image file right there, then displaying it for us to look at.

I know it seems like a big change, but it's important to remember that the only thing that's changing is that modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc) won't allow webpages built on Flash to function anymore, but our computers are all much more robust than a web browser, and the ability to run flash isn't going anywhere in that regard.

Oh, I hope so!  My nephew makes maps here, and I'm sad that I won't be able to play them anymore.  This would be a welcome addition to the download program.

Thank you Craig and, of course, PsuFan! Happy new year!

For me the level editor works but the main game won't run and it says it's 0gb, any idea on how to fix this?

PsuFan

Sorry about that, fixed!
